Frequently asked questions
Whippet coats
Whippets feel the cold easily, so a warm winter coat is essential. We recommend choosing a fleece-lined or insulated coat. A chest covering is especially beneficial during colder spells.
· Sighthound Basic Plus Jacket – A great everyday winter coat with a chest covering, fleece lining and one layer of insulation.
· Outdoor Warm Coat – A super cosy coat, featuring a chest covering, fleece lining,
two layers of insulation and a long snood neck that can cover the ears.
· Whippet Sherpa Fleece Lined Coat – A popular classic style. This coat does not
include a chest covering but can be paired with a vest for very cold days.
We offer several raincoat options depending on whether you want warmth or just weather protection:
· Whippet Raincoat – Cotton lined
· Sighthound Basic Raincoat – Thin fleece lined
· Sighthound Basic Raincoat LIGHT – Ultra-lightweight with a breathable mesh lining
Choose based on whether your whippet needs insulation or simply protection from rain and wind.
Whippet coats are designed specifically for sighthounds, accommodating their deep chests, curved spines and slim waists. This tailored fit allows full freedom of movement.
Generic dog coats are often bulky or barrel-shaped, which can cause twisting, riding up, rubbing the front legs or restricting movement. Well-designed sighthound coats avoid these issues.
No, our whippet coats do not have a harness hole. Harness styles are not standard and the lead fixing can vary, this means there is no accurate place to put the hole. Wearing harnesses underneath can also affect the fit due to many harnesses having handles. Some customers put harnesses over the top of the coats particularly the more fitted styles such as the Soft Shell Jackets and Outdoor Jumpers. If you have an escape artist, you may need to consider if wearing a harness over the top of a coat/jacket would affect the harnesses fit.
